MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – August 8, 2011 5:00 PM

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted.
Louis Lodovico of 4 Meadow Drive was asked to meet with the board regarding a complaint of a possible health hazard and a zoning violation. Mr. Lodovico informed the board that he is not running a busy but has an automotive hobby. The board asked that Mr. Lodovico contact the Board of Selectmen next time he plans to spray any automobile. It was also mentioned the possibility of work being done after the hours of 10PM. Mr. Lodovico stated that that was not a fact.
Tolland’s Junk Car by law allows residents to have two unregistered vehicles on their property. It was mentioned that Mr. Lodovico had more then allowed by the bylaw. Mr. Lodovico will address the unregistered vehicles with his son.
Wayne Carr gave the board an update on his plans for DPW.
- 1 mile of Clubhouse Road will be reclaimed and paved.
- West Granville Road (RT 57) from the Granville line to the top of the hill will be reclaimed and paved
- Part of East Otis Road will be reclaimed and graded.
Leaving approximately $90,000 in Chapter 90 monies.
The replacement of 6 culverts on Clubhouse Road
The Board of Selectmen has requested that Wayne hold off on the trading of the large screening plant until further research can be done.
The board has asked Wayne to schedule an open bin at the Transfer Station starting August 31st. A price list will be used at the Transfer Station. The bin will also be used to dispose of items that are located in the Library basement
Change Order #13 approved double doors between garage bay and cold storage $752.
Eric reported on meeting that was held by Department of Veteran’s, Western Hampden District. The Town of Russell would like to join the district. If the Town of Russell joins Tolland’s annual fee will decrease.
Eric attended a meeting with Southwick Tolland Regional School regarding the upcoming building projects. The school board will be scheduling meeting starting in October to discuss with each town.
The Board of Selectmen granted Stephen Messenger one comp day for helping save monies by doing some welding on the DPW building.
